​​After weeks of preparing 1,800 1/2" square Italian glass tiles with beaded and glued bezels, I begin to string "Tara's Tiles" together. Finished size: 28" L x 80" W. Time to complete: over a year.  See this large valance in the Glass Curtains section o​f Galleries.

The Sonoma Glass and Bead Festival, (CA); The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, (Louisville, KY); The International Quilt Festival, (Rosemount, IL); and The Loveland Museum, (Loveland, CO).

​2000: "Beady-Eyed Women; Colorado's Contemporary Bead Artists." Curator. Featuring 10 bead artists from Colorado. Dairy Center for the Arts, Boulder, CO.

1996: "Tunisia Through Foreign Eyes." International juried show of artworks from foreign visitors included my handwoven "hil'm" belt, created during my Peace Corp service in Mansoura, Tunisia. Tunisian Office of Foreign Affairs, Tunis.

1987 - 2013: Over a dozen regional shows, including the Handweavers Guild of Boulder's Annual juried Show and Sale, Boulder County Fairgrounds, Longmont, CO.

Public Art Installations:

November 2014 - 2017: "Luminescence." Large outdoor sculpture woven with a variety of prepared metal strips on two large vertical grids. This public installation includes ribbons of 2300 individually-programmed LEDs, which create a

never-repeating light show for three years, dusk - 2am every night. Dairy Center for the Arts entrance, Boulder, CO. Becky Vanderslice, project lead, with Mary Balzer, Betsy Blumenthal, Mary Beth Homiack, and Denise Perreault.

June  2013 - 2017: "Hannah's Highland Lawn Plat, 1884." Outdoor art installation surrounding the rehabilitation of the historic Hannah Barker House, downtown Boulder, CO. The chain link fence weaving utilizes thousands of yards

of surplus window treatment fabric and 116 used metal tape measures to replicate the plat that Hannah drew of her early Boulder neighborhood in 1884. 


January 2018: $2,500 Arts Activism Award, Belle Foundation, CA. For establishing Art Parts Creative Reuse Center.

December 2005: People's Choice Award, Handweavers Guild Show, Longmont, CO

July 1999: 2nd Place for "Tunisian Carpet," large beaded valance, "Fiber Celebration '99."

August 1996 - 2004: Various First and Second Place ribbons for handwoven rugs and table linens, Boulder County Fair, Longmont, CO.

February 1996: American Juror's Choice, Tunisian Office for Foreign Affairs, Tunis.

October 1987: First Place; Wearables, Handworks Gallery, Boulder, CO.

as Thailand, Antigua, Greece, Tunisia, Morocco, West Indies, Jamaica, France, Italy, Portugal, Australia, Mexico, and Venezuela. 

Married with one son.
